There are already author signings at the Book Festival, as well as the Pleasance Courtyard and a thousand venue bars. Twitter is also making performer-finding a bit easier, if they want to be found.
Thanks for the heads up, I've only been to a few of the festivals not all of them so I am unaware of the author signings at the Book Festival, but can imagine this would be in place. I don't use Twitter either so I'm not aware of any publicisation about the Edinburgh Festivals from there. Although I didn't state it in my submission (due to the character count) I was primarily directing my comment at performers who attract large crowds and may not have the time or stamina to stay another 15 minutes and personally interact with the crowd.
As for the votes tally, I'm not too bothered about how many votes I get, was merely a suggestion as personally this is one of the things I've spoken to my friends about a few times when going to see the higher profile performers.
(for example, paying about £25 for an hour of comedy I would say is probably the going rate nationwide for shows but with the visitors the EF's attract worldwide, it would be another incentive/perk for these people who have came along to get that little bit extra).
Don't think I know of any big events where the audience are allowed to go for a quick interaction with the performer and I feel this would make the EF's even more exclusive if this was incorporated..
