Sometimes you see a brilliant show one year and want to see if they have a new show next year.
This would be very fiddly and you would be dealing with lots of data; eg what happens if some performers leave a company, is it still the same company? How to deal with company name changes where the performers are the same?
Fiddly doesn't mean impossible: Facebook manages to keep track of people as they change job, move from place to place, get married, remarried and retire. I think it's a great idea, perhaps by adding a social element to edfringe.com, but you'd probably have to leave it to the individuals concerned to help it gain traction and be able to scale.

Networks are the new rock'n'roll! Though I have a lot of misgivings about Facebook itself...
