2 for 1 offers are unfair and unwelcoming to people attending fringe shows on their own as you end up paying double what almost everyone else is paying. They also mean that in groups of uneven numbers (3, 5 etc) one person ends up paying twice as much as everyone else in the group.

Well, until they sort it out you can use http://festafriend.com/ to find someone who wants to see the same show as you :-)

I suspect the current system will stay as it is for a while. As I understand it, the 2for1 offer is as much about boosting audiences as anything else, thus encouraging people to book in larger numbers to fill more seats.

I appreciate that some sales could be lost as a result from solo attendees. It's worth remembering that different box offices might have different deals (or greater flexibility in offering them): if the Fringe box office sticks rigidly to the offer as advertised (and why wouldn't they when that's what's been promised to participating shows) then try the venue to see what they can offer.

The early days of the Fringe are as much about getting an audience as finding an income, starting the word of mouth process that will hopefully pay dividends as time goes by.
